“Su Boe” during the Ottana Carnival in Sardinia, Italy.
Color photo print
Size: 8x12 inches (20x30 cm)
The Ottana Carnival, one of the best known, authentic and fascinating carnivals of Sardinia, has three main characters: Sos Boes (oxen), covered with bells and sheep skins, held by reins by Sos Merdules (owners of the oxen), men with their faces covered by black, atrocious masks, and finally Sa Filonzana, a frightening and mysterious old woman who spins wool.
The Ottana Carnival bases its pantomime on the most important moments of the agro-pastoral life.
